Moscow, 5 December 2024 — Decree of the President of the Russian
Federation 1033 “On Amendments to Decree of the President of the Russian
Federation 172 “On Special Procedure for Performance of Non-Resident Buyers’
Obligations towards Russian Gas Suppliers” dated 31 March 2022” was published
on 5 December 2024.
According to the Decree, Gazprombank continues to be
the sole authorized bank which payments for the supply of natural gas by
foreign buyers from unfriendly countries or by foreign buyers supplying natural
gas to unfriendly countries (hereinafter referred to as foreign buyers) are effected
through.
Gazprombank no longer assists foreign buyers in
converting foreign currency into rubles for the purpose of payments for natural
gas. The obligation to pay for the supply of natural gas is considered
fulfilled by foreign buyers the moment the amounts in rubles are credited to
the ruble account held by a Russian supplier with Gazprombank.
